Billing & Payment Services

PAY YOUR BILL

We don't handle billing directly. Look for bills from your bonding company or broker via mail or email. Need help finding or paying your bill? Contact us - we're happy to help!

We can help process payment information, but payments aren't complete until you receive a receipt from the bonding company or broker. To provide us with your payment information, please visit our agency payment form.

REQUEST BOND CHANGE OR CANCEL BOND

Once issued and filed with the court, ALL PROBATE BONDS require a court order to change, modify, or cancel. Forward your court order to us or the broker who issued your bond. In most cases, simply reply to your last bond-related email. Need help? Contact our office - we're here to assist!

Bond Requirements & Application Process

DO I QUALIFY FOR A BOND?

Requirements for a probate bond are simple:

  1. Acceptable credit Usually 650+ credit score, but it can be higher depending on carrier.
  2. Attorney representation We often get exceptions if the bond amount is low and applicant has prior probate or related occupational or educational experience. Note the attorney does not need to be attorney of record on your case, but rather, any attorney that has been retained to provide legal advice regarding probate fiduciary responsibilities until the bond is discharged.
  3. No disputes

If the above 3 items are acceptable, bonds are usually freely issued and ready within 24 hours, usually within hours on the same day, and sometimes instant issue.

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR A PROBATE COURT BOND?

  1. Personal information you would normally need for a short consumer loan application, things like address, social security number, employment.
  2. Case information, name of ward or deceased party, list of beneficiaries and heirs
  3. Attorney information
  4. Payment information - this is not required in advance but sometimes you can provide it to expedite issuance once approved
  5. Larger bonds may require a Personal Financial Statement, especially if other case characteristics are unfavorable

SHOULD I SHOP A BOND WITH MANY COMPANIES OR AGENCIES?

Probate bonds aren't like car insurance - they're more like consumer loans. Each application triggers a credit check, which can lower your credit score. Instead of applying everywhere, find a specialized bond agent who knows different companies' requirements. While most bonding companies have similar standards, there are important differences. Some won't approve applicants with felonies, and most reject any bankruptcy history (though we have special options for discharged bankruptcies with good credit scores).

PROFESSIONAL FIDUCIARIES

We offer specialized bonding programs for professional fiduciaries. Typically, each bond application requires individual credit checks and financial reviews. Our programs pre-approve you up to an aggregate bond limit (like $4 million annually). Once approved, new bonds require no individual review as long as you stay within your limit, making our already fast process even faster.

HOW LONG DOES THE BOND PROCESS TAKE?

Most bonds are issued within 24 hours, often the same day. Simple applications with good credit can be approved instantly. Complex cases or larger amounts may take 1-2 business days for review.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY BOND IS APPROVED?

We'll email your bond documents to you and your attorney. You'll receive the original bond certificate to file with the court, plus jurisdiction-specific filing instructions. If your jurisdiction requires an original raised-seal bond, please let us know. FedEx Express Saver is available upon request.

BOND RENEWALS

Most probate bonds require annual renewal and remain in effect until the estate closes and the court releases the bond with a court order. You must pay renewals throughout this period. Some minimum penalty bonds are flat-rate, one-time payments.
